DESCRIPTION: EPW - "Chronometer Dueber" marked mvt, Swiss-made pocket chronometer with pivoted detent escapement and helical hairspring, 57mm (18S for American market), HC model mvt cased in sidewinder orientation in nickel OF display case, white enamel SS dial with red "Dueber" signature appears has been modified for use with present mvt, SW-LS, pivoted detent escapement with capped upper detent arbor and helical hairspring, likely 16J, nickel damascene, s#50691. Comes as pictured with a black wooden "The Dueber Watch Case Mf'g Co." marked box with mother of pearl detail on top.Though of Swiss manufacture, we have listed the present watch among the American portion of this catalog due to its Dueber signature and the interest of this watch type to collectors of Dueber Hampden watches.
CONDITION: Mvt: NR, likely broken mainspring, balance will tick with pressure held at center wheel, overhaul needed, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered spots and fine and micro-fine scratches to plates, few spots of finish loss to mainplate at signature; dial has been modified for pairing with the present mvt as inspection of reverse of dial reveals that dial was originally made for an American-made 18 size Model 3 Hampden mvt but has had its original feet removed and new feet added in positions corresponding to the present mvt, dial with scattered hls, few scattered edge flakes, substantial fading of "55" minute numeral and adjacent areas of minute chapter; fair hour and minute hands, excellent seconds-hand; case shows very light wear, no dents or dings, many scattered tiny light spots of tarnish throughout; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystals. Box with split running the length of its lower portion, otherwise in fine cosmetic condition with some scattered dings, scratches and spots of finish loss, good button latch.
