DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 3992B, 22J, World War II era Navigation Master Watch made for Canadian military use, 16S, .800 silver OF case with contract markings to rear, deeply stamped additional markings of CHS3 (Canadian Hydrographic Services class 3 designation), Canadian Ministry of Defence (English spelling) pheon and s# to rear, white enamel dial with Canadian market 13 to 24 hour indications, dial also with applied paper label marked with s#, SW-hack-set with sweep-seconds, fully capped lever escapement, mono-metallic balance with Elinvar hairspring, mvt marked "U.S. Gov't," striped pattern nickel damascene, mvt s#3C2030 with matching serial number stamped on case rear as well as marked on applied paper dial label. Watch comes with a fitted wooden box with front plaque bearing matching serial #3C2030 as well as an additional 67 number. This Canadian Navy version of the 3992B is quite a bit scarcer than the equivalent supplied to the British Navy. From the Estate of Michael "Skip" Marrone.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good hacking function, near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, small fine scratches to sweep-seconds bridge, few micro-fine scratches elsewhere; very near flawless dial with only some very mild micro-fine scratches near signature, paper label applied to dial is lacking first digit of serial number; near mint hands; case rear with s#683434 and case band with mismatched s#4682327, when fully threaded closed the case rear markings align well over 90 degrees past upright orientation as seen in photo, case shows light wear, a moderate patina, contract markings fully legible, Canadian miliary markings are deeply stamped causing corresponding impressions visible to inner surface of rear; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; plastic crystal with some mild fine scratches; box shows light wear, re-lacquering, some scratches and marks, serial number plaque with different color and finish than latch hardware.
