Watch comes with a fitted wooden box with Hamilton plaque to its front. This Canadian Navy version of the 3992B is quite a bit scarcer than the equivalent supplied to the British Navy.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good hacking function, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, few micro-fine scratches; dial with light perimeter hl near 9, edge chip at 9 which is largely under bezel; virtually mint hands; case rear markings align nearly 90 degrees counter-clockwise of vertical when rear is threaded hand tight but case rear serial number does correctly match to band serial number, case shows light wear, few small nicks, no dents, good contract marking detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal. Box shows medium wear, prominent front-to-rear fracture of upper lid, significant scraping and some depressions around sides, plastic upper lid window is very yellowed and cloudy.

It is believed that a total of 2494 Grade 3992B movements were produced.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good hacking function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, few scattered fine to micro-fine scratches to plates, micro-fine scratches to regulator assembly and few to larger winding wheel; flawless dial; excellent hands, blued hour and minute, black sweep-seconds-hand; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, excellent contract marking detail to rear, contract markings sit slightly off vertical despite matching case serial numbers, circular finish of rear remains present, most of band and pendant with finish loss; tight bow with minor finish loss, crown shows light wear; clean plastic crystal.

U.S.A." marking; flawless dial; mint hands; case shows little wear, a moderate patina, small nick to band at 10:30, no dents, good rear marking detail aside from uneven execution of strike of pheon symbol stamping causing its incompletion of right side detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal. Box shows light wear, typical scattered scratches and dings to exterior, some scattered finish losses to exterior, plastic aperture for watch is yellowed and has profuse fine scratches, button latch good.

Ships," striped pattern nickel damascene, s#3C421. Watch comes with a fitted wooden box with internal Ministry of Defence signature plaque and 1971 dated card. This watch began life as a Master Navigation Watch but in the 1970s was repurposed along with a number of other 3992B in British stock with the addition of the present decimal style dial and updating of case rear markings for use in "Work Study" at the Royal Navy dockyards. From the Estate of Henry Betjemann of Bradenton, Florida.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good hacking function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright plates with scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, some areas of black enamel loss to markings; nearly flawless dial with few scattered minuscule surfaces nicks; nearly mint hands; case with mismatched serial numbers to components (rear, band and bezel), when rear is fully threaded contract markings align upside down, case rear and bezel show little wear, band shows medium wear, spot of marred reeding to lower-left and upper-right of bezel, no dents, rear with excellent contract marking detail and some chrome loss at perimeter, circular finish of rear remains visible, band with chrome loss throughout; tight bow with minor finish loss, crown shows little wear; clean plastic crystal. Wooden box in nearly mint overall condition; good viewing glass, good latch; interior plaque with non-corresponding serial number marking and plaque which appears likely to have been created in more modern times.

Ships" as well as with British pheon, striped pattern nickel damascene, mvt s#3C166. Watch comes with a fitted wooden box with internal Ministry of Defence signature plaque and 1971 dated Hydrographic Department card. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good hacking function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches; virtually flawless dial with a minuscule as-made finish imperfection of a pinpoint pit in the glaze adjacent the 32 minute hash mark; nearly mint hands; case rear with s#570288 and case band with s#0570289 which we believe may be more likely an error of original assembly as the discrepancy is of only one number from the final digit and as the case rear markings align close to vertically, handscratched Roman numeral number inside bezel appears to be 349 which is likely indicative of its change during the lifetime of the watch, case shows very little wear to its rear but has near complete chrome loss to band likely caused by polishing, areas of chrome loss to bezel, no dents or dings, excellent contract marking detail to rear and circular finish of rear remains present; bow pivots freely and has some chrome loss, crown shows very little wear and crown tilts somewhat to side as it is turned; clean plastic crystal. Box in excellent condition overall; interior plaque with 3C166 serial number marking appears likely to have been created in more modern times.

A strong example of this British military timepiece, this watch would have begun life as a Navigation Master Watch but in the 1970s was repurposed along with a number of other 3992B's with the addition of the present decimal style dial and updating of case rear markings for use in "Work Study" at the Royal Navy dockyards. The dial currently with this watch is the typical style found on Grade 3992B for the British Navy, it is likely that this 4992B was originally produced with a typical black metal 24 hour "G.C.T." marked dial but that it was converted by a watchmaker sometime later in its history to 12 hour timekeeping and paired with its current dial.
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates, tiny specks of oxide on regulator assembly and larger winding wheel, tiny fine scratch under word "Jewels;" near flawless dial has very tiny edge nick at 4; near mint hands have tiny specks of oxide; case shows very little wear, two very tiny flakes where chrome-plating came off on bezel, no dents or dings; firm bow, crown shows little wear; clean plastic crystal.

Ships" which is a combination of markings that is commonly seen among the early portion of this grade's production, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#3C740. Watch is accompanied by a cardboard box bearing M.O.D. (NAVY) label with inked serial number of 938/1942 which correctly matches the case markings of this example, and this label has been stamped in red ink with a January 11th, 1982 date which attests nicely to this watch's extended lifetime of working service.
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO after a sluggish start, very near to mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, superb lustrous surfaces with minimal few typical mild micro-fine scratches; superb dial; near mint hands; case shows very little wear, circular brushed finish of rear remains visible but shows a number of typical fine to micro-fine contact scratches, good clear contract engraving detail; bow pivots freely, crown shows very little wear; clean plastic crystal; box shows some typical mild marks and wear.

[2] Grade 4992B converted to standard 12 hour timekeeping, 22J, SW-SS with hacking feature, CPBM case with contract markings on rear, however mismatched serial on rear to case band and rear markings align upside down when threaded fully closed, WED with Canadian style 13-24 hour indications, s#4C70532, GRO after a sluggish start, dial is a typical style to Grade 3992B Canadian naval watch and was likely added to this piece at some point in its history when converted to 12 hour time. [3] Grade 4992B converted to standard 12 hour timekeeping, 22J, SW-SS with hacking feature, RGP case, vinyl reproduction dial has turned yellow in color and has long deep scratches, dial is loose to mvt and we have not disassembled to investigate possible reason for this, s#4C100453, GRO, missing regulator spring.

This Canadian Navy 3992B is significantly scarcer than the 3992B version that was supplied to the British Navy. The watch has "US Govt" marking on plate, perhaps a consequence of the Lend-Lease Act. The HS3 marking designates a deck watch adjusted for isochronism in at least two positions.
