CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking somewhat sluggishly, mainspring with a few audible slips when winding though mvt does reach fully wound, overhaul recommended, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered micro-fine scratches to plates, short line of finish loss to barrel bridge between right and center plate screws; dial with small edge chip with associated surrounding hls near 10, few scratches within seconds-register, few scattered fine surface scratches, scattered small edge flakes under bezel with the largest near 10; fine hands with minor oxide; case with extra lever slot at 4, case shows little wear, subtle splotches of faint tarnish throughout, no dents or dings; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystals.

An attractive and scarce gilt acid etched movement, this example has the unusual feature of a nude person in its design sitting among the train bridge's decorative pattern.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, many scattered fine to micro-fine scratches to plates, missing regulator; dial with two flakes at center hole, two short scratches at 8 and another within seconds-register, two curved fine surface scratches at 1; fine-plus hands; case rear bezel is a replacement with mismatched serial number that is slightly too big as it sits loosely and lightly "snaps" on as the threads don't reach correctly, rear bezel exterior has been gold-plated to match the rest of outer case appearance, case shows medium wear, no dents or dings; tight bow with some marring, crown shows little wear; good glass crystals.

DESCRIPTION: APW - U.S. Watch Co, Waltham, The President, 17J, 18S, OF display case was originally nickel but has been gold-plated at some point in its post-production existence, "The President" marked white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, s#150421. A scarce watch, "The President" was the U.S. Watch Co.'s finest grade and based on known examples appears to have been made in a single production run of 1000 pieces spanning serial numbers 150001 to 151000; with the first 200 watches of the run being hunting case model and the final 800 watches of the run being open face model.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, two-tone color excellent through central portions, excellent to majority of main plate perimeter, diminished at a smaller portion of main plate perimeter, and diminished to barrel bridge perimeter, scratch to right perimeter of barrel bridge crossing final portion of s#, two dings to edge of balance cock foot, some scattered fine scratches; dial with few scattered faint hls to lower portion, some scattered fine to micro-fine surface scratches; hands with minor oxide; case has been gold-plated at some point in its post-production existence, case shows little wear, two tiny nicks to bezel near 12, no dents, strip of wear to base metal to upper-left of rear bezel; tight bow, crown shows light wear and has some excess up/down play; good glass crystals aside from a few small smoothed edge flakes.

An attractive movement, this example has the unusual feature of a pair of dragons to its acid etched design.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with many scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, minor oxide to regulator, balance jewel setting is a brass replacement recessed a bit below surrounding surface, mismatched mvt screws; dial with fractured chip between 3 and 4 that appears to have been secured with glue, few scattered hls, edge flake under bezel at 6, some scattered tiny to negligible edge flakes under bezel; fine-plus hands with minor oxide; case shows ample wear, scratch to pendant front, few subtle dings along rear shoulder, many tiny nicks along band, good engraving detail to initials which appear to have been executed sometime later in case's lifetime due to their lesser degree of wear, splotchy toning and tarnish throughout; slightly misshapen bow pivots freely, crown shows ample wear and has some excesss up/down play; good glass crystal.

A scarce watch, "The President" was the U.S. Watch Co's finest grade and based on known examples appears to have been made in a single production run of 1000 pieces spanning serial numbers 150001 to 151000; with the first 200 watches of the run being hunting case model and the final 800 watches of the run being open face model. From the collection of Dr. Robert Restuccia.
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking slightly sluggishly, overhaul recommended, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, diminished two-tone color with gilt tone remaining more evident in central portion but nearly fully lost at perimeter, scattered fine and micro-fine scratches to plates, few scattered tiny dark specks to plates, minor oxide to regulator assembly, lever jewel setting is a lighter shade of brass suggesting it is likely a replacement; dial with fine scratches within seconds-register, few scattered faint hls, tiny nick to outer chapter near 5, small grouping of edge flakes under bezel at 12 and one under bezel at 6; excellent hands of mismatched styles; case shows little wear, uneven patina with scattered darker areas, some marring to band at bezel lip, two scratches to upper portion of rear engraving, tiny nick to band at 8, very shallow subtle ding to upper-right rear center, reduced engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear and has some excess up/down play; glass crystal with internal conchoidal fracture to upper left near 11.

A scarce and attractive piece, "The President" was the top grade produced by this maker. The vast majority of examples were 17 jewel movements as is presently offered, but a very small number were produced in a 21 jewel version.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good overall two-tone color with gilt tone being strong in central portion of the mvt but weaker at perimeter of the mvt, fine scratch above "Adjusted," some micro-fine scratches elsewhere, oxide to regulator assembly; dial with small bits of white material evident at the seating of its segments indicating likely past re-securing of dial segments, numerous outer chapter hls and fractures between 2 and 4 with some having very small associated surface flaking, faint hl above seconds-register, few fine scratches and small surface nicks elsewhere, perimeter scrape under bezel between 9:30 and 10:30; fine hands, minute with rust to its tip, replacement seconds-hand has ample oxide and is a bit longer than appropriate; case shows medium wear, some scratches and staining inside rear likely from a past gold content testing, dent to rear right of center, reduced engraving detail, wear to brass to portions of band and in thin strips at perimeter of bezel and rear following band seams, areas of wear to brass to pendant; bow pivots freely, crown shows ample wear with ridge break; good glass crystal with glue excess at its seat.

Lee, 603-623-6044, heart patient, allergic to penicillin" engraved inside front, crudely removed engraving on cuvette remains partly visible, case shows light wear, some dents, dial has scattered faint hls, SW-LS, s#1762959, NR, balance wheel does not move freely, possibly a broken balance staff. Gross weight of assembled watch 44.0 dwt (68.4 g). [2] Elgin, Grade 117, 7J, 6S, 14K gold case has front lid broken off at its hinge (torn from center part of tube), presentation on cuvette, front has broken off of its hinge, case shows little wear, few small dings and dents on rear, one shallow dent on band, excellent engine turning detail, dial has scattered faint hls, tiny edge chip at 6 under bezel, and edge chipping and flaking with signs of a repair at 3 under bezel, SW-SS, s#6634520, runs. Gross weight of assembled watch 30.9 dwt (48.0 g).
