DESCRIPTION: EPW - Wm Lawrence, sing sing, (New York), lever fusee, 43mm, 18K gold OF consular recase bearing London hallmarks for 1836, engine turned gold dial, KWKS, Massey 3 lever escapement, jeweled to the fusee, diamond endstone, unusual 5-spoke balance wheel, gilt mvt, s#28. Gross weight of assembled watch 38.3 dwt (59.7 g). An interesting English made movement signed for an American dealer.
CONDITION: Mvt: NR, fully wound, balance will give a few ticks with a twist, overhaul needed, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, abrasion adjacent plate pins, some fine and micro-fine scratches; dial with mild dark spot inside 9; excellent hands; case fixed cuvette with a plugged original keyhole and with an additional keyhole having been drilled to accomodate the present mvt, case shows little wear, some dings to rear, excellent engraving detail, engine turning detail with mild reduction at shoulder; tight bow; clean plastic crystal.
