DESCRIPTION: APW - Fredonia Watch Co, 11-15J, 18S, low karat gold (likely 8K to 9K range, exhibiting very slow fade of 10K solution on stone) OF original case with misleading "18" marking and with eagle hallmark, attractive engine turning and engraving detail to rear, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, raised gold jewel settings, "Quick beat" marked mvt, nickel damascene, s#1143. Gross weight of assembled watch 68.1 dwt (105.9 g). An attractive original early example from this uncommon maker.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, mild toning of plate surfaces and some scattered surface spotting, some micro-fine scratches; dial with fracture tight along perimeter under bezel between 4 and 5 with small associated surface flaking, small edge flakes under bezel between 3 and 4, minuscule hl under bezel at 1, light fine scratch right of center; excellent hands; case shows little wear, some mild dings to rear and cuvette, good overall engine turning and engraving detail though with some mild portions of full loss at rear shoulder, spacer inserted beneath mvt case screw presumably for metal loss at corresponding area of case lip; tight bow; glass crystal with scattered surface scratches, small edge chip at lower right, two small internal edge flakes at lower left.
