DESCRIPTION: APW - E. Howard & Co, Boston, Series VII, 15J, deer grade, N-S (just over 19S), heavy 14K gold or better (tested, exhibiting fade on stone of 18K solution, no fade of 14K solution) drum style original W.P. & Co. (Wheeler, Parsons & Co.) HC with inaccurate 18K hallmark, attractive engraving detail including a detailed castle scene to its front, floral detail to rear, gold cuvette with inner B.W.C.Co. marking, bow with chain guards, white enamel SS dial, umbrella style hands, SW-SS, nickel damascene, s#226787. Gross weight of assembled watch 96.4 dwt (150.0 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, scratch to main plate above "Boston," scattered fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere, oxide to regulator assembly; dial with light hls at 5, semi-circular hand rub within seconds-register; fine hands, mild bend to minute, oxide and finish loss to seconds-hand; case front needs a nudge of assistance through the beginning portion of its opening range, case shows medium wear, scattered dings to rear causing a rippled appearance, scattered dings to front shoulder, reduced engraving detail, rear with some areas of engine turning detail remaining very faintly visible, front with no engine turning remaining, front hinge missing an end-cap; tight bow, crown shows medium wear and is seated fairly high pulling fully clear of the pendant when lifted to mvt's setting position; good glass crystal.

DESCRIPTION: APW - E Howard & Co, Boston, series VII adjusted, deer grade, N-S (just over 19S), heavy 18K marked and tested WP&Co (Hayden W Wheeler, A Parsons & Co) A1 original HC with ET gold cuvette, SW-SS, WE-SSD, lever escapement, 15J, raised GJS, parallel diamond-profile pattern NI damascene, s#226787, case #21599. Gross weight of assembled watch 96.4 dwt (150.0 g). This later WP&Co case has BWCCo (Brooklyn Watch Case Co) stamp within the cuvette, rather than BWCF (Brooklyn Watch Case Factory) seen on earlier cases. BWCCo was formed with the participation of Joseph Fahys, Hayden W Wheeler, A Parsons, Henry Hays and A N Darling, some dating the enterprise's roots as early as 1867.
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, fine mvt condition overall, plate cloudiness, some MFS, FS and at least one long deep scratch, light oxide powder; dial hl at 5; fine to excellent hands, hour bright but bent, seconds dull, minute tip stripped of blue; case shows medium wear, many MFS, FS and scuffs, no dents or dings, ET detail gone but for ghosts, shoulders worn smooth, deeper central detail still very distinct; tight chain guard bow with gradually thinned center, replacement crown shows little wear, the internal diameter too large; good glass crystal.
