DESCRIPTION: APW - E. Howard & Co., Boston, Series III, 15J, N-S (just over 19S), likely 12-14K gold (tested, with band and rear exhibiting no fade of 14K solution on stone, front exhibiting slow fade of 14K solution on stone, likely net content slightly below 14K therefore) HC recase with misleading "18" marking above crown, case with attractive scalloped engraving, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), gilt mvt, s#26039. Gross weight of assembled watch 75.6 dwt (117.5 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with cloudy yellowed tone, scattered micro-fine scratches, few scattered small dark spots, balance jewel setting with marring, spacer inserted beneath case screw to span gap between mvt and ledge of case; dial with two hls above seconds-register, hl near 6:30; fair hands, some oxide spots to hour, minute hand with substantial oxide; case with past repair of front lid near hinge area evident both externally and internally, case front opening short of 90 degrees (to approximately 80 degrees), case shows very light wear, scattered dings to front, few subtle mild dings to rear, engraving detail with mild reduction through most areas but with greater reduction at lower-right of rear; gold-filled replacement bow pivots semi-freely, push shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
