LOT#: 200220-90

DESCRIPTION: Mvt only - Hampden, "Park Place, Stamford, Conn." private label marked mvt, State Street grade, 15J, 17S with 44mm dial plate diameter, HC model mvt, "Weed" marked white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, rose gilt screws and regulator, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#3651. A very unusual early movement, the State Street grade in itself is scarce with a total production likely in the range of a bit over 500 made but this example is made more unusual by its private label signature and its serial number outside of the typical Hampden sequence. The "Weed" dial signature is for Alex Weed of Stamford, Connecticut who ordered a number of Hampden private labels, some of which have unusual movement features and/or Weed's own numbering system with serial numbers in the 3000s range.
CONDITION: Mvt: NR, likely broken balance staff, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine scratches and tiny dark specks to plates, one plate screw is missing its head, missing case screw; dial has many scattered faint hls; fine seconds-hand, missing hour and minute hands.
