DESCRIPTION: APW - E. Howard & Co, Boston, Series IV, 15J, N-S (just over 19S), heavy 14K gold (tested, exhibiting rapid fade of 18K solution on stone, no fade of 14K solution) original HC with inaccurate crowned "18" and hallmark markings, bow with chain guards, gold cuvette engraved "W.F. May, Grass Valley Gal," white enamel SS dial, blued umbrella style hands, SW-SS, gilt mvt, s#41383. Gross weight of assembled watch 92.8 dwt (144.4 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, haziness, surface dirtiness, and scattered tiny dark spots to plates, marring to hairspring stud screw and to one of the balance jewel setting screws; dial with flake at seconds-register hole, tiny edge chip and flake under bezel at 2, some tiny bits of paste visible along part of seconds-register edge; excellent hands, minute with spot of oxide to tip; case shows medium wear, ding to upper front shoulder, substantially reduced engine turning detail with large areas of full loss, opened case cuvette falls closed freely with gravity; tight bow with thinning top, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
