DESCRIPTION: APW - Columbus, 16J, 18S, heavy 14K gold (tested, exhibiting immediate fade on stone of 18K solution, no fade of 14K solution) HC recase with misleading crowned "18" marking, beautiful engraving and fluting detail that flows continuously between front/rear and band, gold cuvette, "L.A. Piaget & Co, Paterson, N.J." marked white enamel DS dial, transitional style SW-LS with retained KW arbor, nickel damascene, mvt marked "Adjusted," gold jewel settings and gold winding arbor escutcheon, s#69065. Gross weight of assembled watch 87.9 dwt (136.5 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, toning of plates, some scattered micro-fine scratches and small surface nicks; dial with patched chipping bordering upper-right of seconds-register, scattered hls, few small surface flakes; fine hands, hour and minute are blue and have some finish loss, seconds-hand is plum colored; case shows little wear, crease type dent to left shoulder of rear which has little exterior visibility as it blends among fluting detail, corresponding crease type dent to cuvette perimeter, good engraving detail; tight bow, base metal replacement crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
